The brief
The Environment Agency (EA) needs a better way to explain its Adaptation Pathways (AP) approach to flood and coastal erosion risk management. This information needs to be communicated in a clear and engaging way. This is important because EA stakeholders, who will be working with AP, need to be able to understand the fundamental concept of AP.
The design solution
To best describe the process of  Adaptation Pathways, I created an analogy of Nora playing chess to explain the strategic management process. It was crucial that the metaphor could be used and explained without much if any knowledge of chess.
For this project, I delivered:
• A poster explaining the four key elements
• An animation explaining the analogy in more detail
• A take-home leaflet
• An animated presentation for the clients to explain AP with

Adaptation Pathways project explanation poster
